They are classified based on the structure of their silicate group. Silicate minerals all contain silicon and oxygen."
Asbestos minerals are silicate compounds. There are several types of asbestos fibers.
Asbestos minerals are divided into two major groups:
- Serpentine asbestos
- Amphibole asbestos
